Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell announced on Saturday that the Senate will delay a vote on their Republican health care bill while Sen. John McCain, R-AZ, recovers from surgery on a blood clot.
McConnell said the Senate will work on other issues and nominations this week and “will defer consideration of the Better Care Act” while the Arizona Senator is recovering.
Mcconnell needs McCain’s support for the legislation, which can only afford two Republican defections. Sens. Susan Collins, R-ME, and Rand Paul, R-KY, have already said they won’t support the legislation in its current form.

McCain had a blood clot removed from above his left eye. His office said the clot was discovered during an annual physical and removed on Friday.
