Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price said Sunday that the Republican replacement to the Affordable Care act would eventually meet President Trump’s campaign promise of giving everyone access to the health care they want.
“The plan in its entirety is the one that the President has ensured the American people every single American will have access to affordable coverage that works for them,” Price said during an interview with CNN’s “State of the Union.”
During the 2016 campaign, Trump said health care would be taken care of for those who needed it and before his inauguration promised “insurance for everyone.” The non-partisan Congressional Budget office said repealing Obamacare would leave millions of Americans uncovered.
“This bill that’s moving through Congress right now is simply the first step,” Price added. “Every American will have access to the kind of coverage that they want.”
