President Barack Obama went to New Hampshire to begin a year-end push to extend payroll tax cuts.
President Obama said that a failure to extend the tax breaks would hurt middle-class families already struggling amid a shaky economy.
President Obama Comments
Obama says, "If we don't act, taxes will go up for every single American, starting next year. And I'm not about to let that happen."
President Obama said, "If lawmakers vote no, your taxes go up. Yes, you get a tax cut."
Obama said, "Which way do you think Congress should vote?"
He said, "Don't be a Grinch. Don't vote to raise taxes on working Americans during the holidays."
According to the White House, a middle-class family making $50,000 a year would see its taxes rise by $1,000 if the payroll tax cuts are not extended.
