Mitt Romney has a problem with the middle class. In Pennsylvania, Romney held a round table with middle class voters and heard some feedback the Republicans would rather keep quiet -- raise our taxes. Sam Stein of The Huffington Post joins Ed to discuss it.
Who would you rather sit down & have a cookie, some lemonade or a beer with??? MItt Romney or President Obama???

Out of place & out of touch Mitt Romney....
Mitt looked completely out of place as if he had some kind of phobia to sitting at a picnic table with average people. He looked as if he was afraid of germs or something or it was new or strange to him. I am surprised he wasn't wearing rubber gloves so he wouldn't have touch anything????????????????? He was even afraid of the cookies.........in my opinion I think he was worried that they might possibly have been home made in someone's home kitchen..................I don't buy his comment that they don't look homemade.......Mitt definately looked as if he didn't want to be there!!!!!!!!! only doing it for the cameras!!!!!!!!!

Hey Lee. Do you want to buy an AMC Rambler? Mitt's daddy invented factory jacking when he drove American Motors off a cliff and pocketed the cash for Mitt's trust fund. As if that wasn't enough, Mitt's dad was governor during the 1967 riots that destroyed the city. Mitt's mom ran for the Senate from Michigan and lost by more votes than she got. Most people here don't consider Mitt a Michigan kinda guy - where an empty beer can will still buy a man a dime. He bailed on the state as soon as he could and never looked back. They plowed his childhood home into the basement a few months ago. The usual culprits in the state will vote for him but generally he makes peoples skin crawl when they see him - pretty much like everybody else. Moderates are fools if they think trickle down will ever happen or it will help them. The people that are whining about auto stock value are the ones that are responsible for 40 years of the Detroit Auto Co arrogance that created the disaster. They should have seen it coming. I dumped my Ford stock at 62 before it went to 5 when Jac Nassar was trying to drive it into the ground.

To get some insight, I just read an op-ed in the sickeningly conservative Detroit News about GM being used as a "political football". The tone of the article was basically this: Thanks a heap for saving the auto industry (and by extension, Detroit and the region), Mr. President but that was soooo 2008. What have you done for us lately? The author also whines about the government possibly selling their remaining shares in GM at a loss. We knew that from the beginning. The outcome was going to be the lesser of two evils: 1) lose about 14 billion dollars, or 2) plunge a region and possibly the nation into a full-blown depression. Nice show of gratitude.

Mitt the Dimwitt and the Repubs will put us right back into ...this time a grand depression as they'll use the same ole fail stategies. The probalm now is not the accusation are that Obbama's Admin is do nothing,...Well that's not his fault when you the Repubs standing their ground it's our way or no way, they're the gridlock.
But Repubs are savvy they say just enough about emotional issues to make many believ they can get things done, without really revealing their same old BS strategies.
Most Americans like and approved what the Gov't does for the masses, so ask yourself why is it then Repubs hate the very thing Gov't does that the masses like,SS,Medicare,Medicaid,Public School ed ,College Ed , Jobs, unemployment benefits when your out of a job, and food stamps,FDA,CDC, etc etc Oh yeah they say when you help the needy theyn they will become so layz they'll come to depnd it and not want to work, things when Corps move jobs overseas and rape the ave citizen with corruption on Wall Street whrere's the lazy person even going to find a self supoorting job ??????/ Please tell us Repubs. People are gullible because of their emotions so as the book reads "JUST HOW STUPID ARE WE:Facing The Truth About The American Voter" by Richard Shenkman,, we're, sorry to say very stupid.

I have been listening to a lot of socially moderate people talking about voting for Romney because they think he will get the economy moving faster. I don't understand this reasoning. They are talking about Mr. "Let Detroit Go Bankrupt" being a better bet for the economy?!? And a good number of those people are from the Detroit area. Miblue (or anybody), what is your take?

Romney continues to be one of the most awkward campaigners I've ever seen, and you pubs know it. He was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. The guy is so clueless on the middle class, it's like he's in a movie acting the clueless candidate for President. I pity the fool when it comes to debating Barack.

Mitt Romney is not someone that middle class people can warm up too. He is cold and standoffish. He has led a very privileged life. Romney's life was nothing compared to the lives of soldiers from middle class or working class backgrounds that I knew while on active duty. Life for most people who served in the military was difficult. The main problem was that many of these people went to college or tech school graduated and could not find a decent paying job in their home community or home state. I met people from small towns or rural areas from Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Alabama, Florida, and nearly all the western states. The common theme from all of them: A LACK OF DECENT PAYING JOBS despite going to college or tech school. Student loan debts, few jobs, or an expecting girlfriend to take care of with no health insurance from a civilian employer also were major reasons for educated recruits to join up. Most everyone I served with in the military came from a background where they had to struggle to get started in life. When asked about the situation at home many recruits would say their brothers or sisters may have had a job but it was a low paying job that paid them very little in the way of benefits or salary. They also said that the fear of being laid off was a constant one. This was the typical story behind most military recruits that was pretty standard for the 20 years I was on active duty. So if America is the land of opportunity be damned if I have seen it anywhere except of course for the extremely talented or those born into the elite.
The point here is that Mitt Romney can not relate to the STRUGGLES and insecurities of ordinary Americans. Most Americans will never go to Harvard with all its connections out in the higher elite society. Most of us get a Bachelor's degree from a state institution, a guide on resume writing, and a student loan repayment book. Some people get jobs in their majors and many others never do. Not everyone can pass electrical engineering or become a new chemistry wizard. Most of us are just average people who are business majors, liberal arts majors, teachers, and the like. So Mitt Romney stares at the people at the picnic table because he has lived in a totally different society. Mitt Romney also does not have the charisma of FDR, JFK, or other leaders who could understand common people despite their own wealthy backgrounds. Above all else, this is why Mitt Romney will never become president. If he did become president he would probably be the most miserable person on the face of this earth. Mitt should have stuck with being a vulture capitalist on Wall Street, at least that is something he can relate to.
