We Don't Know How Much Minimum Wage Is, But It's Too Much
posted by Ed Staff | Friday, March 16, 2012

Three potential GOP challengers to Claire McCaskill in Missouri appeared in a radio debate on KMOX and argued minimum wage in the state is too high... but not a single one of them could correctly say how much it is.

Host Charlie Brennan (in the fireman's hat) asked each of the candidates to respond to this question:

“What is the federal minimum wage? Would you vote to increase it?”

BRENNAN: Okay, do you know what the minimum wage is?
BRUNNER: No sir.
BRENNAN: How about you Sarah Steelman?
STEELMAN: Uh…$7.50 an hour.
BRENNAN: Do you know what the minimum wage is?

AKIN: My guess is its somewhere in the 6 or 7, but I don’t know the exact number right now.

For the record, the minimum wage is $7.25/hr

What a bunch of self-serving fools. How would they like to work for peanuts? It is amazing how much trash these conservatives without consciences can dish out. They have no abilities to rationalize because nothing they said made sense. They surely represent only the 1% and not the small businesses they claim to be concerned about. What is most sad is the fact that many of GOP women are supporting their male counterparts in enacting heinous laws against women (thanks to ALEC). How can these women forget that if it were not for the federal government act to allow women to vote, they would have remained barefoot and pregnant and not even have the opportunity to run for office? Nothing like biting the hand that feeds you. Once again hypocrisy in action. Also, it was President Obama who signed into law the equal pay for equal work act. So I ask these GOP women, what has your party done for you lately?

They would like to go back to 1950's wages in 2012. Why does this party hate American workers so? We almost had a political neophyte win as Governor here in Ory Gone last election. A Republican ex-basketball player who was good for about 4 points a game. Along with the usual repub bullshit, Dudley ran on taking a good look at the minimum wage and taxing tips recieved in low wage jobs. This was while the millionaire himself was sheltering his Oregon taxes big time with a Washington address across the river. It helped kill him off at the polls, and we went with a third time Democrat, Kitzhaber. Besides killing off unions completely, they would do away with minimum wages.

Live poor.......vote rich, vote repub. They don't care if you live in the street. They got theirs.

What is with the stupid hat on that talk show host??? You'd think that instead of talking salary, since way too many people in this country no longer have one, they'd be talking jobs. JOBS?

Hello? You'd rather discuss an arbitrary issue like minimum wage, spend all that time on it on a radio show instead of going out and doing your job, which is to find jobs for the people that elect you!

The dark ages republicans want us to be servants to their rich buddies and work for next to nothing, they want us so poor that they want to walk up to the gate of their gated communities and see a crowd of hungry people outside begging for work, thats the kind of country they dream of, right out of the movie soylent green!

Republican Attack on the worker & small business!!!!

If the worker doesn't have any money in their pocket to go out & spend it in the local economy................how is that going to help the small business owner stay in business.............it takes customers with disposable income to be that customer...............out of touch Republican views & values........................
Mr. Fargo

The Republican Party is completely out of touch & doesn't give a damn about the working American citizen. They don't have a clue about the actual amount the Federal minimum wage is, but they sure have an opinion about it "they have no clue to what the hell they are talking about" as a result of their lack of information & knowledge!!!!!

..............maybe the guy pushing the broom & sweeping the floors............just isn't worth that much............in the eyes of the Republican Party...........& he/she should live in poverty so the big shot sitting in the office can have a bigger beach house............................!!!!!!!!.........yet the idiot republican voter gives them their vote..............................??????

One of the WI Senaters up for recall resigned. Some are saying, "one down, 3 to go". But, Walker can now appoint a replacement and that person isn't able to be recalled. They will hold the seat until the term expires. Is this a plan to keep the Senate in the hands of the repubs? Don't put anything passed these crooks.

It is something when salaried employees think minimun wage earners are making to much. They don't know how much minimun wage is...but, they know it is to much. Sounds like something Sarah Palin would say. Claire McCaskill shouldn't have a problem beating this new crew of clowns.
