No surprise. The GOP is loaded with leaders that were unfit for service through gile or avoidance - Rush Limbaugh had a high lottery number but was unfit anyway,

Mitt had the Mormon church apply to the draft board 4 times for his "deferments" while he was protesting to support the draft. His 5 sons just didn't even consider service other than getting daddy elected. Mitch McConnell went doctor shopping until he "found" a problem eye to skate on - which makes sense because he still can't see the truth. John Boehner - poor boy had a bad back that doesn't seem to have affected his senior golf game, Ted Nugent crapped his pants for 2 weeks at the thought of serving his country and protecting our 2nd amendment rights, Dick Cheney - no service here just 5 deferments, Donald Rumsfeld - not, Eric Cantor was a no show. The list goes on to Mitt's foreign policy team

The GOP is losing their grip on service men and women and veterans and rightfully so. Republicans have nurtured the myth that they more grateful and more supportive of military service - which is not true. After the soldier has raised his hand and given his best, Democrats continue to show their gratitude by advocating life long programs for those who have served and earned special consideration - education, first class health care for the obvious and unseen, housing, employment, training, and family support programs. Republicans that have sworn to Grover Norquist to not raise taxes see active duty and veteran benefits as an just another opportunity to cut costs and lower taxes for the fortunate few to shrink the government and flush it down the drain. Real patriotic eh?

Just look at what has happened to our country since we started spending billions more on weapons of war than we do on education. Now it's the people's turn to ask the question, are we better off? Time to close Gitmo once and for all and come home from Afghanistan. We do NOT need to be there till 2014! Stop the drone bombing and get the hell out of people's lives over there. Our country is going to hell in a handbasket while we spend billions overseas. The middle eastern countries will remain in a perpetual state of war, didn't the Bible say that??? Mine does. But it sure doesn't say it's our job to intervene in all of them.

Ron, Eisenhower thought the same way as Goldwater. He saw that whole military buildup during WWII, he saw the greed and warmongering and warned the world about it in his farewell address. Then W and 9/11. Not only the MIC huge buildup, but W himself acting as if he were on some kind of mission from God and convincing most of the country of the same. They invaded the military academies with warmongering and Godspeaking officers, prompting a class action lawsuit by all the academies with the separation of church and state being the main premise.

They were trying to run the cadet's lives and "order" them to go to church every Sunday so they had to listen to more brainwashing and indoctrination. They finally got their comeuppance when they lost in court and religious freedom rights were restored to the cadets.

How is this any different from Nazi Germany???

Sadly Romney and Co did no military service time, but did alot of time recruiting for the Mormon church. I definitely do not see the parallel.

@Big Eddie.........I support everything Chris Klewe said, I am glad he spoke up & you asked him great questions.........but you forgot one important question................What happened to the Greg Coleman style of directional punting out of bounds inside the 10; instead of trying to drop the ball in-front of the end-zone hoping a teammate downs it inside the 10?........Why not directional punt out of bounds on every punt so you get no return at all? What happened to the art of directional punting?

The Republican Party uses the Military Budget & War to basically steal our tax dollars & give big-fat no-bid war contracts to the private sector.........talk about waste, fraud & abuse..........just look at Iraq & Afghanistan under George W. Bush's watch........talk about irresponsible ballooning of the deficit & spending over there instead of investing over here while funneling our tax dollars to Halliburton & KBR for example.........the GOP love waste fraud & abuse of our tax dollars when it goes directly/indirectly into their pockets, but when President Obama cuts waste fraud, abuse & overpayment to the provider in Medicare.......then you see Romney/Ryan screaming & hollering about cutting Medicare wasteful spending because that money goes right back into Medicare on health care services & not their GOP pockets.

The gop=tea party are ill informed on history as one of their own warned them and the nation not to allow the military/industrial complex to become the driving force in our nation. He knew what could happen and it has happened under every gop president from that time to now. Also Berry Goldwater warned the gop=tea baggers about allowing the religious right from having a large voice in the gop and they didnt listen. Now look at what they have put up for a canidate for president and vice president. A man that will keep the war machine going, and a man who wants to have laws pass on religious views.

So we now have two men running that want to keep the country at war, but not just a war it will be a holy war against any country or person who they feel is against them. Like I said they think the men and women of the armed forces are just equipment and can be replaced like you would a gun or a plane.....

Romney is an empty vessel waiting to be filled by the likes of Karl Rove. Mitt appears to have no heart or soul. Running for President of the United States seems to be a game that Mitt is playing. Gov. Patrick Deval of Mass. said something interesting when he spoke about Romney enjoying the run for Governor but running the state not so much. The GOP loves wars so that they can make money from lobbyists who represent defense contractors but not the Americans who serve in the military. To have these brave individuals on a long laundry list and not even at the top is very revealing and disturbing.

I wonder how patriotic the Romney's would appear if they had to contend with the Draft like in my era. Multiple deferments for his five able bodied sons? Officer schools with a guarantee of state side duty? You betcha. Money can buy your way out of a lot of things. Romney is about the most empty suit of a candidate I've seen in a while. I was a crook of a business man, "self made" by virtue of having a rich daddy; therefore I'm qualified to be President. Oh, and my healthcare plan is almost a carbon copy of Obama's but his plan stinks, mines good, elect me. Oh yeah, I have zero foreign policy experience, but I'm white. elect me.

Nor did any Rmoney family member serve in the military at any time in thier history, past or present. For most second and third generation Americans, this is seems almost impossible: everyone's got a son or daughter, mom or dad, uncle or aunt, cousin or sibling, some member of their family who served; not the Rmoneys.

TAX THE RICH, the Rmoneys profit but don't serve!
