Jennifer Granholm brought down the house at the Democratic National Convention last night with an incendiary speech on the auto bailout loans. Granholm took aim at Mitt Romney's position on the auto industry, saying "He loves our cars so much, they have their own elevator.” The former Michigan Governor continued, “But the people who design, build, and sell those cars? Well, in Romney’s world, the cars get the elevator, and the workers get the shaft." Wow.
Jennifer Granholm is a spitfire! I loved her passion and confidence. More of her, please!

Thanks for the kudos Pat. The respect is mutual. I have listened with empathy of your your enduring the RWNJ's at family reunions and neighborhood get togethers. This year, I decided to dump my hopeless conservative friends and get off the porch and get involved. Last Thursday, I hosted a DNC convention party for the sadly outnumbered local progressives and over 50 people showed up in a rural small town community dominated by "hunters". It was great - like a family dinner where the crazy uncle drove his car into the ditch on the way over and was a no show. Citizens peaceably assemblying, planning to fulfill their patriotic responsibilities by being involved in the upcoming election, and smiling and laughing at the ideological trouncing that the Dems gave the GOP in 3 evenings of shock and awe speeches. I hope everybody in the posts will get off the porch and host a debate party or two - you will like it. Also, I hope everybody on the post - except Alex - will donate monthly and generously to their favorite candidates and progressive causes. Jennifer's Michigan supporters are going to hand Mitt his --- in the election. Peace and Forward y'all!!!

If a woman had tried to give a speech like this at the GOP convention, they would have been muzzled, had a straight jacket put on them, and escorted off the stage.
THIS IS THE DIFFERENCE IN HOW WOMEN ARE TREATED IN THE TWO PARTIES.
And the difference is huge!

thanks, miblue. I love your posts! I remember those riots well, and George Romney. Saw a post on Dem Underground with an old clip of Lenore giving the pitch for her husband's run for governor. She sounded so real and sincere and many comments were favorable to her and George wondering what happened to Mitt?
Thanks partially to my memories of those times and the Detroit riots, but mostly to the history I've learned from your posts, I commented that, really, the apple didn't fall too far from the tree after all.

Jennifer Granholm was indeed on fire, and maybe that will encourage some folks to watch Current TV. The job numbers for August, are indeed, dissapointing. The big reason for that is because the Science and Technology jobs are not being hired for, because, the workers are not trained , or educated for them yet! How many jobs have the GOP created in the last 3 years or so.Goose Egg! 0! ZIPPO! NONE! That goes for the do-nothing-saynothing Congress, who wants the President to Fail!

harold I agree with you and everyone here. I have gone on ed's msnbc blog and it is loaded with people on the right. I came in with facts as did others and it is total lack of brains on the right. There were a couple who would go back and forth, but 99% of them just blamed the evil leftwing liberals progressives for the problems. When I said of the 33 times the gop=tea baggers voting on ACA, the phony budgets with all their social amendments like making abortion against the law is why the dems havent voted on them, and about the 142 filibusters they just say why didnt the dems let there be a vote. They are all brain dead as they wont accept the facts that their party has held this country hostage for almost four years. This lady and others are showing how the left is now getting brass (fill in) and a backbone. The left needs to get loud and make sure their voice is heard. The right is run by the radicals and they will lie, cheat, and steal to win this election....

The impact of letting GM go would have been apocalyptic. I like that you said some PEOPLE don't get it. People get busy with their lives and can’t always pay close attention to what elected leaders are doing. We hire them to take action that is in our best interests. I believe Romney just doesn't care about others. I don’t believe he even cares about the people who are helping him. He knows better than anyone the impact of corporate raiding. He can't claim ignorance, nor will I give him that credit.
IT IS TIME WE FACED FACTS. ROMNEY IS NOT A GOOD GUY. HE IS A MEAN, UNCARING, UNFEELING PERSON WHO FITS THE DSM DESCRIPTION OF A CLASSIC SOCIOPATH.
There I said it. He is not nice. He is not good. He is not well meaning. Romney does whatever he wants without regard for who it might hurt. He takes what he wants. He behaves as if he feels entitled. We have given this man the benefit of the doubt long enough. There is a mountain of evidence in his personal story that supports the fact that he is NOT NICE. You know what I am referring to. I am not diagnosing him with Antisocial Personality Disorder. I’m just saying how closely the shoe fits and how scary it is that half our nation is considering this man for our most sacred office. Having no conscience is the key trait of a sociopath. Imagine that personality type with his silly,glib, mean, immature, self important hand on THE BUTTON.
These are character traits and testimony from a young girl who was raised by a sociopathic mother…
