If you need any more evidence that the GOP is in full-on panic mode over their standing with women voters, this is it.  Rep. Todd Akin appeared on the Today show this morning and told Matt Lauer that Vice Presidential candidate Paul Ryan asked him to leave the race for Senate. Watch it.

Fargo, you made good points. Where are Pat, the 2 Lyndas and my other familiar fellow bloggers? Well I'm going to blog regardless of how silent some may be.

I'd like to talk on the republican platform. And by that I mean talk about their platform. Paul ryan and Mit romney wave that disaster creating plan they call "the path to prosperity". Let me tell you a little about that. First of all the true results of what it would result in (disaster for 98% of Americans) is not what the gop will tell you. They (with the help of moneyed, right wing, lame stream media, faux news and the likes of psycho talkers such as rush limb....) will MISSLEAD us into beleiving that tax FURTHER tax cuts at the top 2% will magically create jobs. (IT WONT, NEVER HAS AND NEVER WILL). Reagan and bush have shown for years that it can increase national debt, runaway inflation and higher UNEMLOYMENT. They believe that a so called big government is bad, we dont need things like PEL grants, planned parenthood, the FDA, the EPA and many other programs (which latter I'll expand on), and that we must cut spending on everything except perhaps the military. They believe that an ineffective, broke government which can do nothing is best. The secret agenda of the republican party is simply to do anything and everything that further the prosperity of the ALREADY wealthy ONLY! and that includes the big corperations. Those who are NOW enjoying record profits and record low taxes and tax loopholes. It has been explained by well informed reliable people that the Ryan plan would acctually increase taxes by about $2000.00 / year on the average working American household. The average American houshold that hasent seen an increase in income since the 1970's. The ryan plan will turn our healthcare programs into a "voucher" system. Which can be acceptable only to those who never need healthcare. Their "vouchers" would only cover a small fraction of realistic healthcare costs. If you or I needed an operation, GOOD LUCK! The vouchers woudnt be enough and the rest woud have to come "out of pocket" OK. that means forget the house forget the car sell out and declare bankruptsy. Oh yea, unless youre well off or affluent and have way expensive insurance or a job such as congressman or supreme court justice, who have great healthcare coverage.

They (the gop) (republicans) will lead us boldly into the dumbing down of America. Higher education would be harder to get. Student loans, well Im sorry but with the resultant unemployment created by their ideology, we might never get a suitable job and may not be able the repay student loans. OK, so higher education would be more expensive and harder to get, we might have to skip it. Many bright young American minds wasted. Our future generations couldnt keep up with global competition.

Not only that but being that they are so strongly and clearly angainst abortion, we'll see many more single mothers even high school drop outs with little or NO chance for a brigher future.

They say they are pro business. What that means is more profit. Its a capitalist society so anything is fair in the name of profiit. DESTROY UNIONS! because they interfere with corperate profit. OH! Whats the difference between offshoaring jobs and outsoucing jobs? That is nonsencical question. The jobs are either created or shipped overseas. No jobs for U.S. They are pro business and anything is fair in the name of proft. Its a capitalist society. The so called path to prosperity wont help 98% of Americans. The top brass of the biggest corperations will do well. NOW THATS THE PATH TO PROSPERITY.

I believe we (like Clinton who balenced the national budget) we need to tax the top 2% an additional 4%. Its is fair. They wont go broke, they can easily afford it. If I were rich, like Buffet I'd be willing to pay a little more. And if congress could wake up and stop rejecting job creating legislation such as th jobs act (which I supported) our government could create alot more jobs and successfully reduce unemployment. Alot of these new jobs need to be in creating green energy and energy selfsufficiency.

More easily and equally available education is the part of the path to a brighter future for America. A highly skilled American workforce that can keep America in the lead of global competition. Not outoffshoreing that only helps the few. Americans need jobs and taxing the top 2% percent is one way that can happen. With jobs Americans will have income. With income I believe Americans will step up and pay just a liittle more for a quality made in the USA product instead of lesser quality cheaper imported products.

Im not antibusiness. Obama isnt antibusiness. We know that we need both a financial industry and an automobile industry. As well as thousands of other industries making quality products in the USA and creating American jobs. I strongly urge everyone to buy American, and the corps to produce and make in America! I am pro worker!, pro union! pro woman! pro choice and progrssive. Also pro healthcare. I support the "big three". We need the safety net that we've had for many years (and the republicans are fighting fiercely to cut or eliminate) namely, Medicare, Medicaid and Social securiy. These are necessary government programs that must be supported, NOT CUT. Obama care is a good thing and it should even be improved. The republicans want to throw gradndma under the bus, they want to throw the sick or injured under the bus, if youve lost your job, under the bus. If youve got a union job, go stand in front of the bus as the gop destroys unions. There go all of the benifits that youve worked so hard for, for so many years. and without unions its likely the American dream will be MUCH harder to reach.

typo: now Ryan/Romney say you can get a voucher to purchase traditional Medicare coverage............the thing is we already paid for Medicare so why are Ryan/Romney making us pay again?.....by the way if you are 55 or older Medicare will cost you more out of pocket.........Ryan/Romney wants to re-open up doughnut hole & make you pay more for prescription drugs, while taking away free wellness care and preventive checkups.
Mr. Fargo

Purchase Medicare???...after paying in all these years

We have all paid into Medicare our entire life, now Ryan/Romney say you can get a voucher recipients to purchase traditional Medicare coverage...........did you get that key word PURCHASE.....we already paid for it now Romney/Ryan want us to pay for it again................they want to double bill us.........make us pay twice.
Mr. Fargo

Ryan's record on policy stance & platform stance mirrors Akin's stance.........Ryan is distancing himself from both Paul Ryan & Akin...............now the Ryan/Romney can add that to the list of "who they are & what they have done" that they are running from & can't campaign on: taxes, tax policy, tax fairness, the economy, jobs, the big 3, Obama Care, Olympics, Business, Bain, abortion.......& etc.........& still growing.
Mr. Fargo
8/22/2012 2:15:33 PM
The only reason Paul Ryan asked Akin to leave the race for Senate was purely a political move to keep the focus away from Ryan/Akin & Ryan's record on the issue........purely a defensive run for the hills move on Ryan's part............it basically shows that Ryan is running away from Ryan...........
Mr. Fargo

When you look at policy, platform, voting record, bill sponsorship & past statements when it comes to rape & abortion.............Akin & Ryan are the same dude!!!!!!!.......clones on that issue.........joined at the hip...........
Mr. Fargo

Paul Ryan & Akin are TWO PEAS IN A POD.........now Ryan is flip/flopping & shaking the Etch-a-sketch distancing himself from his buddy Akin.

I don't think he, Akin, misspoke. This is how he really feels. In his mind "legitimate" and "forceable" have the same meaning in regards to rape. His comments exposed how the Repubs really think about rape. Why else does their new party platform not make an exception for outlawing abortion for rape or incest?? The only reason he is apologizing is because of the political "firestorm" he has set-off by exposing how these people really think. These people are backward thinkers on every issue facing this country. This includes also the flip-flopper-in-chief, Mitt Romney and his sidekick Paul Ryan.

I wonder how much they promised him in a Cayman Island account. What a farce .He didn't mis speak. He told it how they really feel, outrage ensued, now they want him to take one for the team in the pretense that they don't feel that way. End of story. These clowns are as transparent as a clean window.

I'm unsure which show i heard a caller said something very insightful last night. I hesitate to specify which show because it would be wrong if i got it incorrect..so i just say i got it from someone else who is very insightful...this caller said the GOP likes to work in the shadows. When one of their own brings something into the light, the GOP will ruthlessly cut that member off to continue their work in the shadows.

doesn't that thought have a ring of truth to it?

"Hi Bio Green Clean, I have been a longtime listener of the Ed Schultz radio show, and often hear you talking about Bio Green Clean. I kept thinking that no product could be *that* good :) Anyway, I have an old Victorian house (built in 1904). It has years of accumulated grime in places, from various past owners. I have 3 cats and a dog, and don't like to use harsh chemicals around my house, particularly on floors. Finally, last week, I decided to try Bio Green Clean out, after hearing another great testimonial. Two problems I have just solved with Bio Green Clean :- 1. Ground-in dirt on kitchen floor tiles My kitchen floor tiles are rough-surfaced, an odd choice for a kitchen floor, and years of dirt accumulated in the crevices, particularly on the tile borders near the grout. A couple of scrubbings with a brush and Bio Green Clean took all those years of gunk right out, where no other floor cleaner has worked. It will be much easier maintenance from here on out. 2. Residue from Double-Sided Tape I'm a dedicated energy-saver around the house, and like to use those plastic window sheets that get taped to the window frame in winter, for insulation. Trouble is, one can never get the double-sided tape off properly afterwards. I was wary of using a goo-removing product because they often strip the finishes too. The previous homeowner had used plastic sheets also, but not removed the tape residue, resulting in ugly, yellowed strips of dried tape adhesive on the window frames. A couple of applications of Bio Green Clean, and a little scrubbing, took the old residue off, and I'm going to feel better about my window insulation next winter ! Thanks SO much, Bio Green Clean !
