Mitt Romney's selection of Paul Ryan sets up a very clear distinction between two very different visions of America, and how to get the economy moving again. John Nichols of The Nation joins Ed to discuss it. Watch.

I agree Slawdogg the Ryan Budget is a Trojan horse disguised as a Medicare plan & its ultimate goal is to make Medicare bankrupt so the GOP can trash it all together.

One more thing, Ryan's extreme views have also got the press totally looking the other way and no one is asking for the tax returns from Robme anymore. Yep, he knew exactly what he was doing.

Fargo, the comments by David Stockman pretty much shoot down Ryan's contention that his budget is largely supported by the GOP. The article I believe appeared in the NYT.

When David Stockman, a Republican and President Reagan's budget director, calls the Ryan budget a "phony plan" and says he is obsessed with cutting taxes for the wealthy, they better know they have a problem.

When Britt Hume of Fox News asks the same question of Ryan over and over and it goes unanswered, they have a problem.

However, I have a theory and ya'll shoot me down if you think I am off base. It is beginning to appear that Romney's choice of Ryan was completely by design. When you actually compare the two, Ryan appears to be the extreme one and Romney the moderate.

Between the radical budget, the personhood amendment, and the infatuation with an avowed Aetheist, you cannot get much more extreme than that.

Romney knew exactly what he was doing or at least his handlers did. Ryan is the sacrificial lamb to get Romney elected by default.

I know the election is important, but why aren't you Ed, or anyone else talking about some other important, issues, like Pepsi-Co, and others, like MONSANTO, trying to defeat initiative 37-from Ca. which if passed would require companies to label food products. This is the food we eat. When you look at the big picture of many families having sick people, in them, and now Ed, you are one of them. The research is there on GMO's and the major health issues, that occur from their use.

This affects all of us big-time, and I cannot understand why it is being pushed off onto the back burner, for talking about Eddie Munster, the Vice-Presidential candidate, instead.

GMO'S have been linked to many kinds of health problems like some cancers, and other things. We have the right to know what is in our food!! I know why, all of you have been caught up in the 24-hr news cycle, and I for one am darn tired of all of it.

I know full well, that Obama-Biden must win this election, and know what is at stake here. Couldn't you at least talk about a few other just as important things, like GMO labelling, instead of dedicating almost your entire shows to the Eddie Munster candidate, and his wealthy side-kick, Mr. etch a sketch, and the lying fascist, GOP? Just a thought.

I encourage everyone to go to the link & see Paul Ryan defending the individual mandate & saying it is traditionally supported by Republicans in a round about way.

If this think progress article is accurate the Ryan/Romney budget would have an individual mandate:

http://thinkprogress.org/health/2011/05/05/172066/paul-ryan-individual-mandate/

Time to go on offense with it & see how Ryan defends it while they attack the individual mandate in the Affordable Care Act.............great question for Ryan when he is on his own. Do you have an individual mandate in the Ryan Budget?
