I am thinking that at most about a third of Latinos will vote for Romney. Probably the actual figure could be much lower. This would be a disaster for Romney. The political experts, and I am not one, say that if a GOP presidential candidate does not get at least 40% of the Hispanic vote for president they need to start writing a good concession speech. I never pay attention to polls unless they show strong trends. The polls so far indicate a very strong trend towards President Obama. Some polls had President Obama 20 or more points ahead of Romney. I think though that polls in August and September could well show a 30% lead in some states for President Obama. The GOP filibustered the Dream Act in 2010. Why anyone would filibuster the Dream act is beyond me, unless you are a bigot. Why would you invest money in children to attend public school for years and when they graduate and can only speak English, you want to deport them to a country they don't know or could speak the language in? The GOP has been mean to these Dream kids when there was no reason Hispanics to want to make a break for Romney.

The other group that the political experts say that a Republican presidential candidate must win over are independent women! The Republicans have done everything in their power to make independent women furious with them. Anti-women's reproductive health and anti-family planning programs have made women angry with women voters. The GOP has been the most bullheaded and obstinate about these issues of family planning and birth control including antiabortion legislation. I can not see independent women wanting to vote for Romney either or Republicans in general. While this does not guarantee Obama will get reelected Romney has a tough road to climb amongst Hispanics and independent women. The GOP will learn that when you make women angry you always lose because women don't just get angry they get even.

Your right Linda S. They don't have a response. Ergo, they are avoiding the subject by changing it....again. Now it's the smoke and mirror outrage over Holder's "contempt" Another waste of time, taxpayer dollar investigation, in yet another pathetic attempt to discredit Obama. Even in the local right wing fishwrap here in Ory Gone, public opinion is getting fed up the do- nothing repubs in Congress. Four years of "I hate you Obama" isn't what I classify as work. If the deadbeats repubs really want to cut the useless lard in Government, they need to fire themselves, or the voters need to do it for them come November.

I talk to my immigrant students every day about these issues. If the GOP thinks they are going to pull the wool over the eyes of these people they better think again. And if they think their fake Cuban exile Rubio is going to win over the Latino vote---not even. They haven't gotten by in a foreign country by being stupid or naive. They know who is on their side and who isn't.

My students work hard, they go to a job and then in their off time they are going to school to learn English. I have nothing but respect for them.

Rubio accused the President of "politicizing" the immigration issue by the speech he gave. What can be more political than lying about being a Cuban exile???

I reality the Pubs are pissed because Obama just pulled a winning trump card on them and they still have no response a week later.

Any Latino that votes Republican is cutting their own throat, unless you are in the wealthy club. They may just let you on the private golf course to play 18, instead of to mow the lawn. You want to vote in people who are screaming to deport you? The Republican vision of full Latin employment would be filling the pickup truck every day with laborers heading off to the jobsite to work for sub-minimum wage, and maids for every motel. They don't care about you. They want to keep you uneducated and poor. Obama still believes in the American dream where EVERYONE would have a shot at something, except living poor your whole life.
