Remember the Wisconsin vote counting scandal in the Kloppenburg/Prosser Wisconsin Supreme Court campaign? Kathy Nickolaus 'forgot' to include an entire city in the count, 'discovered' the mistake, and handed the election to David Prosser. County Executive Dan Vrakas has relieved her of her duties in the upcoming recall elections. And this race just got a little more fair. Watch it.
If Issa and his band of thugs and outlaws has their way, there won't be any post offices left so mail in ballot would be moot.

I would agree with Rob, Oregon that mail in ballots should be nationwide. Colorado had a pretty decent mail in ballot system. Returns could be counted much quicker and most election officials and the voting public really like mail in balloting. The mail in ballot is easy and hassle free. Residents of Colorado fill out an application for their ballot about two months before the election. Then you get your ballot. People who just moved into the state usually had to go to their local city hall to register with a bill with an address on it or a driver's license. No long lines on election day. Mail in ballots should be the norm across the entire nation. Voter participation would increase. It would also make the the Post Office an important part of every community. Voting by mail works really well. I am surprised that both parties don't push for the maximum amount of voter participation. Mail in voting is good for democracy and good for America. We need to make it work in every precinct, in every state in the country. We need to save the Post Office in order to do this however.

The process to me went out the window when Dubya lost the popular vote by half a million, but was 'appointed' President anyway by the righty court judge and our archaic Electoral College vote. That's a democracy? The College was invented I believe before there were even Parties. It should have been chucked when political parties came into existence. Who the hell are a few 'chosen' people to overrule the rest of the country? They Supremes invented the 'Gore Rule", they wanted Bush, and they got him. We then entered eight years of one of the most corrupt, cronyism appointing of offices the country had ever seen.
The constant re-districting game is engineered to rig elections. There is constant stink and hanky panky involved in that. This nation is corrupt, The Democrats have to play just as dirty as the opposition. That's the game now. Truth, justice, and the American way caught a cab some time back. We are dealing with a vile, lying, corrupt, corporate ass kissing, crush the middle class political machine that now obviously owns the Supreme Court. Fair play isn't in their dictionary.

Rob, in the cases of the Saints coach and the elections, you have criminal activity in both. Intent to do bodily harm in N.O. and election fraud in all these states. Unfortunately cheating on your spouse is not a crime. If it were, the courts would be gridlocked until eternity.
The right to vote and the integrity of our vote is our most basic civil right as an American. It trumps every thing else. Fraud is fraud and either we are going to take it seriously or we might as well not even have elections in this country. It is absurd to spend millions of taxpayer dollars instituting ridiculous voter id laws that we know are not designed to end voter fraud because there isnt' any, they are designed to suppress the vote of youth, elderly, and minorities. In just about every state a federal judge has issued an injunction against enforcing the law because they know they are unconstitutional. There are also injunctions in most states with these ridiculous women's healthcare dark age laws, because they too are unconstitutional.
Why are we willing to spend a fortune of taxpayer money on problems that don't exist yet when we have criminal activity we are just letting it go??? I am ANGRY!

Linda S. As ridiculous as this woman is, I fear cheating has permeated so many levels of our society, that it is almost accepted behavior. Husbands cheat on wives, wives cheat on husbands. As Fred Diulus states, cheating has become a national pastime. 80% of kids who have finished college admit cheating in some way. We have contractors screwing the Government for millions, cheating on the job, cheating in sports (New Orleans Saints hit man scandal, New England's secret taping scandal), theft in the workplace, cameras watching not only customers, but employee's too. We seem to have no end to scandal after scandal in the church, the banks are screwing us blind. Kids learn how to cheat from their parents. It seems the only sin to cheating these days is getting caught!
In Nickolaus's case, nobody can be that stupid. She is helping the pubs throw elections period, and has gotten away with it thus far right in front of our eyes, while the hapless Dems are reduced to protesting and being outraged. This is why I keep saying the Dems have to quit bringing knives to a gun fight.
We aren't dealing with men and women of honor. We are dealing with the party that invented dirty tricks. They will do whatever it takes to win, and fair and square is not in their vocabulary. In Oregon we have ballot by mail. I think it should be nationwide. It's not perfect, but it does help eliminate rigged machine voting where it is oh so easy to 'lose' votes that aren't going your way.

This is not a matter of incompetence. This woman knew exactly what she was doing in the Prosser case and in the other cases where the vote totals were close and they wanted the Republican candidate to win. So she's going to play the "stupid card" to get out of jail free?
My God the state of Wisconsin has its hands full. If they let her get away with this the election fraud will continue. They will just come up with more creative and disguised ways to make it happen.
We've got laws now in a majority of states in this country designed to suppress the vote and make voting harder due to "voter fraud". And they have not been able to come up with any significant cases anywhere in the country to back up their claims.
Yet we have state after state trying to throw primary and general and special elections. Blatant fraud and each time these officials get off with a slap on the wrist.
You had an election offical in Iowa who actually stated his "official vote count got lost because one of the candidates asked to see the total and didnt' bring it back."
How much of this is going to go on before these people are prosecuted? These are CRIMES they are committing, not incompetence.

Unfortunately, Kathy Nickolaus is my county clerk. In my opinion, it won't make much of a difference if she "steps down" for the recalls. She "stepped down" for the Waukesha recount, too, and that was a debacle (I was a Kloppenburg volunteer). Until Nickolaus is out and the staff is replaced or re-trained by someone who follows best practices and procedures, nothing has changed.
The good news is that the competent Jessie Read (D) plans to run for that office this year, and she's got a lot of support from Waukesha liberals (we do exist!)
