Pelosi Calls Sessions’ Roll Back of Marijuana Policy “Shameful”

House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-CA, on Thursday criticized Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ “shameful” decision to roll-back an Obama-era policy that provided space for states that legalize recreational marijuana.

“Attorney General Sessions, your unjust war against Americans who legally use #marijuana is shameful & insults the democratic processes that played out in states across the country,” Pelosi said on Twitter.

Pelosi’s tweet followed reports that Sessions will rescind the cole memo, written by former Deputy Attorney General James Cole, which stated attorneys in states with legalized marijuana should not make the prosecution of marijuana a priority.
