Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-KY, said former White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon’s pledge to remove him from his leadership position made him laugh.
“You can write that down,” McConnell told The New York Times on Friday. “I laughed. Ha-ha. That’s a perfect response.”
The Comment came after Bannon told the Times that he did not think McConnell would still be Majority leader this time next year.
“It’s not my personal mission, but it is an objective that I — I have an objective that Mitch McConnell will not be majority leader, and I believe will be done before this time next year,” Bannon said.
Bannon also told Fox News’s Sean Hannity to move the Republican party forward, you have to remove McConnell from his leadership post.
“I tell you Sean, I’m to the point that I think Mitch McConnell, to really bring unity to the Republican Party and get things done, I think Mitch McConnell ought to tender his resignation,” Bannon said Wednesday.
