President Trump on Tuesday said the White House has done as well in recovery efforts in Puerto Rico as they have in Florida and Texas.
“I think it’s now acknowledged what a great job we’ve done. And people are looking at that day. And in Texas and in Florida we get an A+. And I’ll tell you what, I think we’ve done just as good in Puerto Rico, and it’s actually a much tougher situation,” Trump told reporters.
Trump has faced criticism from Democratic lawmakers following Puerto Rico being ravaged by Hurricane Maria.
Trump, on Tuesday, praised the work of first responders working on the island.
“But I will tell you, the first responders, the military, FEMA, they have done an incredible job in Puerto Rico,” he said.
The President also lauded Puerto Rico Gov. Ricardo Rossello.
“I appreciate very much the governor and his comments. He has said we have done an incredible job and that’s the truth,” Trump said.
