Rep. Peter King, R-NY, on Thursday, warned the House Freedom Caucus, a group of the most conservative members of Congress, against blocking President Trump’s agenda, telling them that the President’s base is not a “small faction of obstructionists.”
“Memo to Freedom Caucus: Trump base is the American people not a small faction of obstructionists!” King Tweeted early in the morning.
“Kudos to @POTUS Trump,” he added.

King’s Tweet comes after reports that the President and Democratic leadership were close to a deal on protecting young immigrants from deportation.
Members of the Freedom caucus downplayed reports that legislation to protect these young immigrants, known as Dreamers, would be voted on the House floor, saying Speaker Paul Ryan, R-WI, promised that would not happen.
“That’s a promise he made. He’s gotta figure out whether he’s going to stay with that promise or not,” Freedom Caucus Chair, Rep. Mark Meadows, R-NC, said last week.
“There was a concern that Democrat-led legislation would get on the floor, and he made a commitment that that would not happen,” he added.
