Russia Says New Sanctions Against North Korea Could Be “Counterproductive and Dangerous”

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov warned Secretary of State Rex Tillerson that more sanctions against North Korea would be “dangerous.”

The two diplomats spoke on the phone late Wednesday evening, shortly after President Trump said “talking is not the answer” to deal with North Korea.

Lavrov told Tillerson that Russia wants all nations involved to avoid a military solution to the situation on the Korean Peninsula and added that Russia sees any new sanctions against North Korea as “counterproductive and dangerous.”
