Former Vice President Joe Biden thinks President Trump’s “contempt for the U.S. Constitution and willingness to divide this nation knows no bounds.”
Biden wrote an OpEd for the Atlantic where he writes that Americans are “living through a battle for the soul of this nation” following a rally of white nationalists in Charlottesville, VA that has been the topic of conversation for the last several weeks.
“If it wasn’t clear before, it’s clear now: We are living through a battle for the soul of this nation,” Biden said. “We have fought this battle before—but today we have a special challenge.”
“Today we have an American president who has publicly proclaimed a moral equivalency between neo-Nazis and Klansmen and those who would oppose their venom and hate,” biden continued. “We have an American president who has emboldened white supremacists with messages of comfort and support.”
Biden also praised counter-protesters in Boston who marched opposite of a far right rally.
“Then a week after Boston, we saw the truth of this president: He won’t stop,” Biden said. “His contempt for the U.S. Constitution and willingness to divide this nation knows no bounds.”
Biden called on Americans to “do what our president has not” and “uphold American values” to “show the world America is still a beacon of light.”
