Sen. Chris Murphy, D-CT, think White House adviser Jared Kushner would no longer have a job in the White House in a normal political world.
“In a normal world, we wouldn’t be talking about security clearances, Jared Kushner would have been fired about four hours ago,” Murphy said during an appearance on MSNBC.
Kushner, who is President Trump’s son-in-law, had allowed Trump, Vice President Pence and other aides to “repeat a lie,” according to Murphy.
“That no one in the Trump operation met with the Russian government or operatives of the Russian government,” Murphy said.
“He watched those individuals go out and engage in that parade of lies. Now, maybe they knew they were lies, but giving them the benefit of the doubt, Jared Kushner at least knew that they were lies,” the Senator added.
“And so, if this were a normal political world, Jared Kushner wouldn’t have a job by the end of today and at the very least, he should absolutely have his security clearance revoked.”
The comments come after Trump Jr. on Tuesday released a thread of emails laying out setting up a meeting last year with a Russian lawyer.
