German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Wednesday took a shot at the United States for anti-globalization policies under the Trump Administration, two days before the leaders are set to meet at the G-20 Summit.
“While we are looking at the possibilities of cooperation to benefit everyone, globalization is seen by the American administration more as a process that is not about a win-win situation but about winners and losers,” Merkel told Die Zeit weekly.
Merkel also criticized the Whtie House’s narrative that there are “winners and losers” in the global economy, saying Germany wants everyone to feel the benefits of economic progress.
The comments come after Trump has made some remarks about trade, including a tweet sent out Wednesday talking about the past deals of the United States.
The United States made some of the worst Trade Deals in world history. Why should we continue these deals with countries that do not help us?
