Economy Adds 222,000 Jobs; Unemployment Rate Up to 4.4 Percent

The U.S. economy added 222,000 jobs in June, according to an announcement by the Labor Department on Friday, above the projected job increase for the month.

The unemployment rate went up slightly to 4.4 percent.

The jobs created in June were significantly more than the 152,000 jobs created in May., and well above the estimate of 140,000-200,000 for the month.

The jobs report is good news for the Trump administration, which has tried to keep the focus on how well the economy is doing.
