Sen. Ted Cruz, R-TX, on Thursday supported a plan backed by President Trump to pass a bill to repeal Obamacare now, and come up with a replacement for the legislation at a later date.
“If we cannot bring the conference together and agree on repeal legislation, then I think President Trump’s absolutely right that we should pass a clean repeal,” Cruz told reporters after a town hall event in Texas.
Even though Cruz is willing to pass an Obamacare repeal bill if the Senate can’t come up with a combination bill, Cruz seemed to think it was within the Senate’s reach to come to an agreement.
“I believe we can get to yes,” he added. “I don’t know if we will.”
