President Trump on Monday spoke about the United States’ role in building the Panama Canal, while Panamanian President Juan Carlos Varela pointed out that over a one hundred years had passed since.
“The Panama Canal is doing quite well,” Trump said while sitting with Varela during a photo op. “I think we did a good job building it, right?”
“Yeah. A hundred years ago,” Varela replied.
“We did a very good job,” Trump continued, interrupting Varela. “But things are going well in Panama.”
