President Trump’s approval rating is plummeting this week amid his handling of the investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election, according to a new poll.
A New CBS poll shows President Trump at 36 percent approval, his lowest rating in the poll since he became president. Nearly One-third of Americans say his approach to the investigations into Russia has made their opinion of him worse.
The poll found 40 percent of Republicans think the Trump campaign had some improper contact with Russia, a number that has jumped from 25 percent in a March Poll.
Only 20 percent of Republicans think the investigation into Russian interference in the election is a critical security matter, but more than 50 percent see the investigations as a “political distraction that should be put aside.”
