Sen. Rand Paul, R-KY, says Republican Senate Leadership is not negotiating with him regarding his opposition to the party’s Obamacare replacement proposal.
“So far the Senate leadership is not negotiating with our office,” Sen. Paul said during an interview with CNN Monday. “I’m trying to negotiate with the President, but really the President is going to have to tell leadership it’s going to have to negotiate with some of us who don’t see this bill as being good for the country.”
Paul said he spoke with President Trump over the weekend, but has not heard from Republican leadership in the sSenate.
The Kentucky Senator also addressed the push to pass the bill quickly, saying he has yet to read the entire draft of the bill.
“I think it’s a lot to digest in one week, not only to read the bill, but we don’t even have the CBO score until this afternoon,” Paul said.
Paul said he opposed the bill because it keeps too many provisions from Obamacare in place.
“We keep 10 or 12 of the Obamacare regulations,” Paul said. “I’m concerned that the death spiral of Obamacare may get even worse in the Republican version.”
