Trump Tweets that the “Best thing” May Be To Cancel Future Press Briefings

After several days of the White Hosue failing to get messaging straight on the firing of FBI Director James Comey, President Trump Tweeted that they could just cancel all future press briefings.

“As a very active President with lots of things happening, it is not possible for my surrogates to stand at podium with perfect accuracy!” Trump tweeted Friday morning. “Maybe the best thing to do would be to cancel all future “press briefings” and hand out written responses for the sake of accuracy???”

The White House has had trouble keeping the story straight on the timeline of the firing of Comey.

Deputy White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Wednesday that the President fired Comey after the recommendation from the Department of Justice. Trump told NBC News on Thursday that he had considered firing Comey for a long time, and he would have fired the FBI director with or without the DOJ recommendation.

“I didn’t ask that question directly, ‘had you already made that decision,'” Huckabee Sanders said at Thursday’s press briefing. “I went off of the information that I had when I answered your question.”
