House Oversight Committee Chair Jason Chaffetz, R-UT, on Thursday said President Trump should not have hired former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn.
“You can argue that he probably shouldn’t,” Chaffetz told NBC’s “Today,” when asked if Flynn should have been hired.
“And maybe, in retrospect, knowing what we know now, he probably shouldn’t have, but nevertheless he did hire him, and he was there for just over three weeks and then he did dismiss him.”
Chaffetz added that he thinks the President made the right decision to fire Flynn. His comments come after a report that Trump’s transition team was told prior to his inauguration that Flynn was under investigation for his work as a lobbyist for Turkey during the campaign.
