Close to two-thirds of Americans say they would be in favor of a path to legal status for undocumented immigrants, according to a recent poll, and only 26 percent think stopping illegal border crossings should be the top immigration priority.
A new CNN/ORC poll released on Friday shows that 60 percent say a pathway to legal citizenship should be the governments priority when it comes to immigration.
Thirteen percent said deporting undocumented immigrants should be the number one immigration priority. Once percent of those surveyed said they had no opinion on the issue.
Fifty-Eight percent said that deportation efforts will go too far by deporting those who have not committed a serious crime, while 40 percent claimed the deportation efforts don’t go far enough.
